D-7 until we climb Kilimanjaro
Earlier this year, we decided we would take on the challenge of climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world Kilimanjaro! As some of you might know we love active holidays, we always look for interesting and challenging stuff to do that will help us grow as people. We have never been to Africa together as a couple so we are extremely excited for this adventure...
As part of this challenge we decided we would like to support 2 charities that do important work that is close to our heart:
Youth Sport Trust. A national charity passionate about creating a brighter future for children and young people through the power of sport.
Crisis. A national charity for homeless people. They provide vital help so that people can rebuild their lives and are supported out of homelessness for good.
We are covering the cost of our trip so all money raised goes to these charities.

Thank you so much for your donation.
Fact about our trip:
Kilimanjaro: It has three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa, with its summit about 4,900 metres (16,100 ft) from its base, and 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level.
Which route are you taking: Lemosho route
How long will it take: 8 days
Which company are you doing it with: Kandoo Adventures who look after making sure all the guides and support team are well paid, well cared for and well respected. Responsible and sustainable tourism is extremely important to us.
Can we follow your adventure: @moreactivetravel and https://www.facebook.com/kandooadventures/
How did you train for it: We do a lot of fitness training in general so we didn't feel the need to change any of this, we also did a few walking trips to the Alps, Scotland and local ones.
Any fears: Obviously the altitude sickness is something that we cannot predict and we will probably experience. Hopefully not to the point of not being able to go all the way up!
What are you looking forward to: A lot of things but being outdoors and engaging in real human connections; stopping, looking around and enjoying what life has to offer; testing our resilience; embracing the moment; learning a few words from the native language Swahili...
We look forward to creating some unforgettable memories.
We hope to help the future and wellbeing of a few people with all your donations.
Thank you again.
